Safeguarding Our Members

The DSMBA are committed to safeguarding everyone who takes part in our sport, ensuring they can participate in a safe, positive, and enjoyable environment.

As a member county of the English Short Mat Bowling Association (ESMBA), we follow their guidance and that of the Bowls Development Alliance (BDA). We work in conjunction with other bowls codes to ensure that, regardless of the type of bowls being played, there is a cohesive and consistent approach to safeguarding across the sport.

We adopt policies and procedures that promote and encourage the highest standards of care towards children and adults at risk who participate in bowls, and we strongly encourage our clubs to do the same by appointing a Safeguarding Officer.

The BDA has two safeguarding policies; one for children and one for adults at risk. These clearly outline the processes to follow if a safeguarding concern arises, and provide advice on the support available and who should be informed.

Please use the below buttons to view the policy templates and guidance available from the BDA.
